Superhero Week! - September 1-5

We had a super week at The Pa-Paw Patch during Superhero Week!  We worked this theme into fun learning experiences in math, science, reading, and writing this week.  This was a new theme for us, and the kids had a great time!

The one-year-olds colored superheroes, fingerpainted with Superman colors, and decorated masks.

The twos decorated masks, made capes out of bulletin board paper, and made wrist cuffs from toilet paper rolls.  They fingerpainted with Superman colors too!

The three-year-olds took superhero flying pictures that turned out great! The made masks and capes too and colored Batman signals by number!

The fours and fives made capes out of old shirts, decorated masks, and created paper superheroes.  They drew pictures of a superhero and dictated what their superpower was.  Very creative and fun answers!

Our first superhero week went really great and up next...Space Week!

Fairytales - August 26-30

During our Fairytale Week we learned about kings, queens, dragons, and all sorts of fairytales.  We read lots of stories, used our imaginations, and had lots of fun!

The one-year-olds made crowns which were just too cute on the babies! They made handprint kings and queens and colored pictures of a princess kissing a frog.

The two-year-olds made awesome dragons!  They also made the cutest pig noses to use in acting out "The Three Little Pigs" out of small plastic cups and popsicle sticks.

The three-year-olds decorated crowns, enjoyed reading fairytales in their new bathtub reading center, and had a bugle snack, pretending the bugles were princess hats!  They also created a giant beanstalk that grew up the wall in their circle time area.

The four- and five-year-old classes created "Princess and the Pea" art by gluing a pea under the amount of mattresses they chose, with the princess on top.  On Friday, everyone was invited to dress up like a prince or princess.  The little girls had a blast with this one!

Let's Go Camping! - August 18-22

Camping Week is one of the kids' favorite weeks here at The Pa-Paw Patch and this one was no exception!  We had tents up in some of the classrooms, ate marshmallows, did a little fishing, and had lots of fun.

The one-year-olds stamped stars on black paper.  They also painted campfires and glued marshmallows on them.

The two-year-olds finger-painted campfires and made fingerprint fireflies on black paper.

The three-year-olds set up a tent and had all the props, including a woodpile, lantern, fishing poles, and hay bales.  What a great atmosphere to learn in!  They got to bring in sleeping bags in all the Pre-K classes to nap in and play in a tent outside.  The three's enjoyed eating s'mores and creating tent peek-a-boo art!

The four-year-old class painted with marshmallows, which turned out super cute! They also made tent art and enjoyed circle time on hay bales in the glow of a campfire.  Looks like they'll be eating fish cooked over the fire!

The five-year-olds enjoyed their tent and campfire, especially when they got to have circle time in the tent and eat marshmallows!  They went "fishing," roasted marshmallows in the pretend campfire, and had a picnic lunch!

We enjoyed learning while we "camped out" all week!  Next up...Fairytale Week!
